Volunteer

As a Special Olympics volunteer, you bring enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to each practice, event and competition, enriching the lives of the athletes you meet. In return, you develop relationships with athletes who inspire you with their dedication, perseverance and courage. You learn new skills, meet new people and gain unique experiences, enriching your own life in return. We are looking for Head Coaches, Coaches, and Program Helpers for all sports. NEW VOLUNTEERS

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS

COACHING POSITIONS

Coaches play a critical role in the personal and athletic development of their athletes. Coaches are the means through which the values and goals of a sport organization are communicated.

To be eligible to become a coach, you must:

  1. Be 16 years of age or older

  2. Be available for the duration of the sport's program. (approx. 6 months for winter sports and 3 months for summer sports)

  3. Take theĀ National Coach Certification ProgramĀ (NCCP) within your first year.

  4. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and co-operation.

  5. Have a great sense of humour and adventure.

NON-COACHING POSITIONS

We have opportunities for those people interested in one-time volunteer experiences as well as for those younger than 16 years of age.

Local Committee Volunteers
To be eligible for the local committee you must:

  1. Make a commitment of one year

  2. Demonstrate you have the skills required to fulfill the position

  3. Attend monthly meetings

  4. Demonstrate team work abilities

  5. Participate in occasional special events

Sub-Committee Volunteers
To be eligible for the sub-committee you must:

  1. Make a commitment of one year

  2. Demonstrate you have the skills required to fulfill the position

  3. Work co-operatively

  4. Enjoy the company of athletes
